A teen girl was shot and killed inside an apartment in Arcadia Thursday morning.
The Arcadia Police Department said the deadly shooting happened at about 11 a.m., in the 800 block of West Huntington Drive.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which took over the investigation, said the juvenile's 20-year-old boyfriend, Paul Anthony Cruz, allegedly broke into her apartment.
The Medical Examiner has identified the girl as 15-year-old Mina Kurdian.
Cruz fled before officers arrived, and Kurdian was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Arcadia PD. No one else was injured.
The Pasadena Police Department located Cruz in the 800 block of S. Arroyo Parkway about an hour later. They were attempting to contact him when he sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to LASD. Deputies said Cruz was taken to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Officers closed the road immediately after the shooting, but it was reopened later on Thursday.
